Asha Robertson grew up on Salt Spring Island, to parents of artists. She has a BFA from Alberta College of Art and Design, Sculpture. Asha predated this with four year mentorship with ceramic sculptor Kathy Venter and a year at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago.
In her recent work, Robertson uses ceramic, wood, encaustic, and acrylic to create two and three dimensional multi-media objects some of which appear to be excavated from the landscape. With this work, Robertson explores themes of collective memory, time travel, human impact on the land and nature’s ability to reclaim with time.
