Dennice Stambuck
biographyDennice Stambuck paints atmospheric environments using a sensitive understanding of light, texture and medium. Her paintings are often inspired by nature, a relationship which she attributes to her childhood in Saskatchewan and years spent roaming that landscape. While the natural environment provides a starting point for her work, she is equally compelled by a strong sense of aesthetic and the sheer beauty of layered, juxtaposed and abstracted shapes. Dennice paints on canvas and paper in a number of media, including oil, chapapote, oil pastel, and gold leaf.
Dennice received formal training at the Victoria School of Art; three winters of study at Instituto Allende and Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, as well as two years of course study at the Vancouver Island School of Art. She constantly seeks new ways to express the relationship between the external world and the one within the frame. In this endeavor Dennice continues to be inspired by the Impressionists and the Abstract Impressionists. where to see or read moreshows: www.artgallery8.com/art/dennice-stambuck/ buy Denise's art locally on Salt Spring.
