Formerly from Mendocino, California, self taught Larry Melious is an active photographer. He was one of the founding members of the Willits Center for the Arts and was involved in several community based projects such as the People’s Portrait Project and The Grace Hudson photographic restoration project. Larry now lives with his family on Salt Spring Island and his photography speaks to the places in which he lives and has lived, including a year in Florence. Over 20 years of photographic work has brought him to this place in time and vision. His background is in B&W portraiture with a wide variety of commercial work and fine printing in that medium. Since 2002, he has incorporated digital interpretations into his work; a break-out tool which helps him to live on an island, away from city labs and printers.
