Leslie DeAthe
biographyAfter a career in market research and consulting, Leslie DeAthe retired (early) to Salt Spring Island and began to pursue an artistic path. She studied quilting, embroidery, bookmaking, a bit of pottery, painting and drawing and took a 2 1/2 year Art and Design course.
Leslie says that "I knew that I liked working in fine detail and was good with my hands. I happened quite accidentally on a group of friends who were making beaded jewelry, and was immediately hooked on this medium! It has creative design, lots of colour choices, texture and form, and a blend of structure and freedom. Working with tiny beads, thread, sometimes fabrics and metals, beading appeals to both my creative side and my need to 'produce' something a the end of the day." Her work has been shown at the Sooke Fine Arts Show and the Vancouver Island Bead and Jewelry Show. where to see or read moreshows: Leslie shows her beaded jewelry with the Salt Spring Gallery of Fine Arts.
