Renée Sanden is a Canadian artist born in the Northwest Territories. She graduated from the Univeristy of Calgary with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (with distinction) degree in 1999 and a Bachelor of Nursing degree in 2007.
She works primarily in cast bronze sculptures and textured paintings. The artist draws upon her own life with a focus on the identity and experiences of women, mothers and children. Renée’s artwork is feminist in that it attempts to revalue women as creative subjects, and to critique aspects of patriarchy.
The artist now resides on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia, Canada where she maintains a studio gallery.
