Rosalie Matchett grew up in Toronto and received her BFA in studio art from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1981. She went on to complete a diploma in film production at the London International Film School with a distinction in script writing. Rosalie continued living in England for the next 17 years, working occasionally in film while raising her two children.
In 2001 the artist moved back to Canada and began painting in oils again. While experimenting with the surface quality of her work she discovered the rich translucency and textural possibilities of encaustic paint, and now makes this her medium of choice.
Rosalie’s work has won awards and has been shown around BC and in Ontario.
